Mary McConnel School of Early Childhood

Distance and on Campus courses are delivered from the Mary McConnel School of Early Childhood at the historic Shafston House in Brisbane

Having housed private residences since 1851, Shafston House was leased to the Crèche and Kindergarten Association as an early childhood teacher trainer centre from 1915. In 1919 it was acquired by the Commonwealth of Australia for a Repatriation Home for totally and permanently incapacitated servicemen, and was known as ANZAC HOUSE. In 1969, the building was taken over by the Royal Australian Air Force.

Shafston House has long been recognised for its historical and architectural importance and is listed by the National Trust of Queensland and is on the National Estate Register.

The Australian heritage-style teaching and administration buildings are enhanced by beautiful lawns and gardens overlooking the Brisbane River.

Shafston International College was founded in 1996. This was followed by the establishment of Service Skills Academy and Mary McConnel School of Early Childhood.

Mary McConnel School of Early Childhood is proud to have the services of professional Childcare Educators who have a wealth of industry and training experience.
