The Mary McConnel School of Early Childhood: Education & Care Courses in Brisbane

The Mary McConnel School of Early Childhood first opened its doors in Brisbane a couple months ago, in June. They opened in honour of Mary McConnel (1824 – 1910) who opened the first public school of its kind in Cressbook, as well as established the first children’s hospital in Queensland. Their highly experienced team of staff is passionate about early childhood education and care and aim to inspire future early childhood learners to become leaders in their field.

The Brisbane Campus vs. Distance Learning

This Brisbane based school allows students to earn their diploma in early childhood education & care, through their unique course program. Full time, on campus learners will meet at the Kangaroo Point campus (a suburb of Brisbane) and complete their degree within 18 months. On campus learners will study early childhood education & care courses twice a week, from 9am until 2:30 pm. Vocational placement is also a mandatory part of the degree program, as well as a helpful way of experiencing early childhood education and care firsthand.

Distance learners have a bit more flexibility, but must maintain their own learning schedules. Even if you live in Brisbane, close to campus, you may find your lifestyle doesn’t currently allow for you to attend class on the specified days and times the courses are being taught. If this is the case, distance learning is a perfect option. Distance learners are allowed a longer time to complete the early childhood education and care diploma (part time students have 36 months), but can also move ahead at their own pace to complete it in 18 months, if so desired. Vocational placement is also mandatory for distance learners, and the school will handle placement.

Earning a diploma in early childhood education and care through the unique, hands on learning courses offered by Brisbane’s Mary McConnel School of Early Childhood is the perfect way to begin a professional role in shaping young children’s lives.
