Delivery: This course includes workplace based training with classroom or distance learning.
The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care prepares students to become qualified Early Childhood Educators and provides the skills, knowledge and understanding required for this demanding and rewarding career.
Qualified Early Childhood Educators have responsibility for the supervision of staff, students and volunteers. In most states this is the qualification required at Director or Service Manager level. This course provides a qualification that is nationally recognised and in high demand.
This qualification consists of a combination of theory based training and practical implementation in the workplace. Students who are not employed in the early childhood sector (working with children) will be required to complete 240 hours of vocational work placement. Placement is organised by our on site vocational placement team.

*HLTAID004 is delivered by and the Statement of Attainment issued by Red Cross Training Services (RTO code: 3605) at no additional cost to the student. This UoC is Credit Transferred to the CHC50113 prior to issue of CHC50113 qualification (or SAO) by Shafston College Ltd (RTO code: 32004). Students already holding HLTAID004 may also apply for Credit Transfer of this UOC.
Maximum Course Cost: The maximum tuition fee for completion of this course is $10,000.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Students are able to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning, Recognition of Current Competency and/or Credit Transfers by providing Statements of Attainment issued by other Registered Training Organisations in Australia. More information on how to apply can be found here.
Working With Children Check
You will be required to apply for and pass a Working With Children Check as relevant to your State or Territory, as this is a mandatory requirement for Vocational Placement.

At MMSEC you are guaranteed 240 hours of Vocational Placement in an established childcare setting. This will give you real world hands on experience and an edge to start your career in early childhood education.
Graduates will often work in long day care centres where they are responsible for providing a program of care and education to children under six. They may also gain positions in the following roles:
- Occasional care
- Family daycare
- Long daycare
- Out of school hours care
- Kindergarten assistance
- A variety of community based programs
